Sustainable urban development has proven to be a positive approach to regeneration of urban cities over the years. From remodeling of cities, creation of residential areas, commercial areas, industrial sites, to creation of more transportation systems, roads, and motorways all sum up to brings about a better society. Sustainable urban development requires both technological and social innovation strategies structured to fit the overall development of urban cities. Asides the technology improvement aspect of sustainability, our focus should not only be on reducing carbon footprint but rather it entails much more than that in a sustainable society. Likewise, issues arising from the environment cannot be separated from issues arising from economic, social, cultural, demographic and aesthetic.

Our future is a question of using a holistic environmental and social sustainability in identifying the principles for healthy communities. As our environment entails both natural and built in environment",likewise regeneration involves restoration, rehabilitation and revitalization of our ecosystem resulting into urban prowess. Sustainability and Regeneration enables cities, people, partners and stakeholders to come to an agreement of building livable, competitive and sustainable cities thereby considering innovative ideas in; energy efficiency and clean energy, economic development and job creation, transportation, water and wastewater, waste and recycling, parks, open space and healthy food, and climate change.

Regeneration process can be addressed by having a well-planned and effective scope, plan, financial support and implementation which involves tools that designed specifically for urban regeneration process, and assets such as land, community and environment. The process entails envisioning change, having a well-designed structure of actions and institutions, private funding incentives, and moving from ideas to action plans. A regenerative approach of achieving a future growth of 2:1 balance between bio-capacity to eco-carbon footprint will lay a standard for vigorous policies and programs resulting into redevelopment of economic activities, environmental quality restoration, and social inclusion recovery which will help a great deal.

Sustainable urban mobility needs to consider both the elderly ones and families with children, and small-scale businesses around. The eco-mobility of sustainable cities bores down to access to good basic transport services which is important as it helps to reduce the use of automobiles, and as well as having good public space network. Likewise the concentration of unemployment, segregation and poverty are also key problems found in cities. Therefore, the city of tomorrow need adopt a holistic model of sustainable urban development to; deal with development, economic, social and environmental challenges in integrated holistic way; match place and people based approaches; develop governance systems capable of building shared vision reconciling competing objectives and conflicting development models; cooperate in order to ensure coherent spatial development and an efficient use of resources.
